H1N1 Flu Update
Audience: Homepage

As of October 21, 2009, Santa Clara County had a total of 329 hospitalizations related to the
pandemic H1N1 flu, and a total of 10 deaths.

Because supply is very limited, it is important to get this shipment of the vaccine to the
children and adults at highest risk for the most serious complications. The Public Health
Department will be working with local medical providers to get the vaccine to the following:
• Pregnant women;
• People who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months old;
• Infants and children from 6 months to 2 years of age; and
• Children and adolescents from 2 years old to 18 years old who have medical conditions
that put them at higher risk for flu related complications;
• Healthcare and emergency medical services workers who provide direct patient care to
the list above.
